Ah yes.
My son will apply to Bard, Wesleyan, and Reed together with Skidmore and SUNY Purchase (also a safety) and AU (not really like the others but HE liked it - go figure) next year.
I guess I will ignore the hair.
I would like him to add a few more schools but I am dreaming there too -
He's promised me to finish one reach, one match and one safety application by September 1 so I do not tear out my hair. Last minute always, this child has been. He's been good with pulling out that rabbit out of the hat. I have had a few fearful moments watching.
I am somewhat old school, but I have been to the tours with him and agree that he looks the part of already admitted student.
He's moved away from strict theater programs he'd once been considering - that's how you referred me here from 'the other' board.
Much thanks for all your free advice.

Thanks everyone for all your advice. It seems the day was a success. He's more in love with the school than ever, and he had a chance to explore how he might fit in there and what his major/minor might look like, so it looks like ED for him come the Fall.
Now if I can get him to write those thank you notes . . .
But seriously, thank you all for being such kind and generous resources.

My son's list was: Reed (accepted ED and thrilled to be attending), Bard, Skidmore, Macalester, Carleton and Beloit. So, we really do have similar guys. (However, my guy didn't like Wes when we visited.)

| Can I ask why not Wesleyan? I guess mine DS1 loved all the talk of shows in which non-theater majors could be involved. I am curious to hear negatives though. Thanks, Maureen

Maureen,
First, keep in mind this is just my son's impression - not mine. I think Wes is a really neat place. But, my son felt that Wes (and Vassar too!) were just a shade too traditional for what he was looking for. He felt like the students he met were smart, but not the kind of "Question Everything" folks he was looking for. He really does picture himself as a bohemian intellectual, and Wes just didn't click for him on that level. Keep in mind this is the kid who loved Hampshire, Reed, and Bard. On the other hand, he also really loved Carleton, which in some ways I see as more similar to Wes than Reed. So, chalk it up to another of those weird, unexplainable quirks of teenage logic.

Ah, my son felt that way about Vassar (which I really liked) - said the students were too conventional.
Thanks again for all your help.
