No thread yet for RIT?  I guess I'll start.

RIT has around 16,000 students, which I believe includes graduate students.  The campus was located in downtown Rochester until the mid 60s, when they moved to their suburban location.  Thus, the buildings look like a brick suburban office park.  However, the interiors are nicely done, with atriums and other features that individualize them.  We didn't see the residence halls - that is a separate tour.  The freshman residences are located about a quarter mile from the academic buildings, which would mean a very chilly walk in the winters (I believe there are tunnels, though, but I wasn't shown them).  If there was a "typical" student union building, I missed it - the building that I saw had an ESPN sports zone and the bookstore (which will be moving to the Barnes & Noble being built at the far corner of the campus).

RIT requires a co-op, so it typically takes 5 years to graduate.  The info session and the tourguide emphasized several times what great careers awaited graduates.

OK, this is a lukewarm review.  I didn't get any feeling of school spirit (I know it was a summer visit, but I did get some feeling at other colleges I toured) or student fun.  The career emphasis made me wonder about the education process.  I asked, and even though University of Rochester is near, there is no cross-registration, which I found odd.  Nearly every other college I've visited that is in close proximity to other colleges has some kind of cross-registration agreement.

RIT offers excellent opportunities, but it didn't excite either me or my son.

One of the reasons that there is no cross-registration with UR is that RIT is on a trimester system and UR is on semesters. Makes the timing difficult.

D has a couple of friends from high school at RIT, and they all seem to be quite happy there.
