Just checked D's scores online...first try at SAT. She scored 710CR, 640M and 780Writing.
She has always had a large gap between scores, she did raise her math score from the PSAT. I was actually worried that her poor handwriting would affect her writing score! As she has her heart set on art school, I doubt she will want to retake the SAT to raise the math score! She takes the ACT in June. .I sure wish that SAT writing score would count!
Good luck to those who are getting their scores.

Great job, ScoopD!
I have the gut feeling that more attention is being paid to the writing section as it "matures." Some schools already say they do take it into account. In any case, a 780 cannot hurt! (I had the same fear about my S's handwriting, and he got the same score as your D. How, I do not know, because I attempted to look at his essay online, and what with the "handwriting," the scanning, and the fact that it was written in pencil, it was just about illegible to me. )

| Thanks Consolation. In my opinion, I don't think more studying for the math section would raise her score much. She was never a problem solving kind of kid. It will be interesting to see how the ACT compares. Anyway, I am happy for her.

Scoop, Very nice scores. Unless she wants to retake, I would be satisfied with those scores, given that she is mainly interested in art schools. Even if she added in a few non-specialized schools, those scores are fine for the vast majority of schools in the country. Please tell her I said congratulations, especially about the math score! That is a real accomplishment for a non-math kid.

Thanks Carolyn, I will tell her. She told me that she was willing to take it again...that was before she realized she would have to take the entire test again! I think those scores will fit in with most liberal arts schools she would be looking at. Now if I could just get her to come up with some schools to consider..but that's another topic.
