I wonder if this means the W section will become more accepted in next year's admission rounds.

Could be, but I saw in the UC's study that high school GPA is still a better predictor of college success (first year grades) than is the SAT.  I look forward to seeing more of the analysis behind these reports.

Edit:  I found this site in UC President's Office.  Haven't had time to read the results yet.

Oops, those are the result from their study of 7 years ago.  Will keep looking for the more recent ones.  Maybe they're on the site.  (But have a meeting go to so can't search it out futher now.)

Thanks for letting us know about this! I've been wondering if schools would ever decide whether or not the writing test is worthwhile.

Does anyone know if schools (other than the University of California) typically conduct their own studies? Or do they mostly rely on the College Board studies?

kdmom, It is my understanding that quite a few colleges and universities now do their own institutional research, especially regarding student retention. I think it is unlikely that they would publish results of their institutional research, however, for general public consumption.

Well, that would be very nice if colleges would consider the Writing score, since my son got a 790 in that!:)
