She is in College Prep Math (geometry sophomore year, Algebra 2 Junior and probably statistics as a senior) and CP science (Biology Soph, chemistry Jun, probably won't take sci as a senior). All other classes (History, English, Spanish) are honors this year and will be AP Junior and senior year. In addition, she is participating at the varsity level in two sports and involved in Model United Nations. So I think she is taking advantage of the opportunities available in those areas where she is confident.
I'm sure the GC was referring to the UC and Cal State schools when she spoke about admissions requirements. I don't expect them to know everything about every private, there are too many. Since the vast majority of college bound students in our HS system go to either UCs or Cal States, that is where the GCs focus should be.
