LOL! I know have been spinning by different sites all day as I wait to hear from my clients about how things turned out. Luckily, so far, it's been great news, but if you think it's nerve-wracking to be waiting for results for ONE kid, just try waiting for results for a dozen!

I don't even know what news I want, much less what my kid wants. He's waiting to hear from Harvard and Stanford - which would both be hard to turn down. Carnegie Mellon seems like a great fit though so I'm almost hoping for two rejections which would make life easy!

I saw a thread on CC the other day about taking bets on when the site would go down "on Thursday." Looks like no one won the pool if they stuck to those parameters.
For sheer data, CC is definitely a help. When S's letter from Vandy came, I asked what size the envelopes were, since I hadn't heard before. So I didn't have to agonize over what the result was. And I knew it was coming because of the Vandy thread on CC.
Carolyn, yikes, I've had to resort to house cleaning, my anxiety level was so high (now that's drastic). I can't imagine waiting to hear results for a dozen kids.

It's not really the same if they aren't your own kids, though.

| deja, you're right in that watching our own kids be disappointed is a bit like taking a knife to one's own heart. But my guess is that, since Carolyn's been advising these kids, she feels somewhat responsible for how they do.

True. When they're not your own kids, you also have to worry about their parents' reactions to the results. Of course, I can't take credit for any of the results - they are all great kids, and they each deserve good news.

.....but Carolyn you can take credit for guiding the kids to the schools I know that you, and the parents here, have been a tremendous influence on our family. Someone suggested Valpo in a thread here and Julia looked at it....now Valpo is a household word at our house....a place without AA she never would have found! You don't have to live with the kids disappointments (nor pay the bills for their accepted schools) but it is nerve wracking to watch kids you care about experience the disappointments and celebrations that occur this time of their Senior year!

A dozen kids! When son was a senior, there were five of us with seniors. I was a roller coaster wreck. I barely functioned having just one kid, still barely function with just one kid.
I am positive all of Carolyn's students will have good news. Hope it all arrives soon.

Hee Hee. That's true.
So far, the news for my kiddos is very good. No huge negative surprises, a few happy ones, and lots of good choices.
One thing I have learned is that things really DO tend to work out the way they should if the student brings their true self to the process.

I'm glad your seniors got results they can work with! I was on CC for a few minutes today in between their outages, long enough to see the heartbreaking posts. One of S's friends didn't get into a few top choices, which surprised everyone. But these kids are resilient and they will find college homes. I suspect his parents are going to be more upset than he seems to be.
