Hi, everyone.
In the Colorado College thread I asked Canadian to provide a review of CC (where her S will be attending) if she had the time and inclination. She has kindly agreed to do so at some future date and we can look forward to her contribution.
But it occurred to me that our Review folder, helpful as it is, does not have content about some well-known schools (and could use more about lesser known ones too!) Here is a list I hope might jog your memories:
Ivies: Princeton, Brown, Penn, Dartmouth
Other Selective Privates: Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon
Catholic Powerhouses: Notre Dame, Georgetown
Southern Noteables: Auburn, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech
Super Publics: U of Michigan, U of Virginia, U of Florida
Big Ten: U of Illinois, U of Iowa, Ohio State, Michigan State
Other Publics: William & Mary, mulitple UC's (Irvine? Davis?), Truman State
LAC's: Bates, Colby, Bowdoin, Hamilton, Colgate, Kenyon, St. John's, Hendrix, Millsaps
Others That Came to Mind: Syracuse, Creighton, Marquette, U of X or X State U (where X is any of a number of states)
These are just suggestions. Please don't limit yourself to this list.
I suspect many of you out there have visited some of these schools and could have an insightful opinion to contribute, so I am asking you to jot down a paragraph or two, or even just a few sentences to answer these questions:
-- When did you visit?
-- What did you like? What did you dislike?
-- How did your parent/child react?
-- Overall impression?
You can be opinionated if you like - the idea is to initiate a thread that will represent multiple sets of experiences. I think I am like many others in finding these personal accounts highly valuable in giving insights you can't get from numbers, view books, and websites.
I think Carolyn has quite a "value-add" with these reviews and I'd like to try to enrich it.
Thanks!

The problema, descartes, is that your reviews are so well written, the bar is way too high for me to play that game.

I don't have any new reviews to add at the moment, but this summer I'll be going on a counselor tour of colleges in Montana, and will be happy to report back afterwards. I also will probably be visiting other colleges over the summer at one point or another. I truly have the college junkie syndrome.

| I've been to some of the schools on your list, but the visits weren't admissions tours. I'll be able to post some college reviews once we get going on college admissions visits (hs jr son hasn't started yet, although he's familiar with some college campuses already through summer and school programs).

| I'll be able to add some smaller technology colleges after summer road trip with son. And don't forget "College Road Trip" opens on March 7th.
