    Did your 2008er do one? At her high school the only thing allowed on the graduation gown or hat (other then chords and sashes) is the college of choice on the top of the hat. The funniest one we saw was one of her friends who is going to UC Santa Cruz. Their mascot is the banana slug - an ocean animal since they are on the ocean. She made a little slug with papermache and stuck it on her hat. It was hilarious to see this slug with tiny wirerimmed glasses peeking over the top.

Here is my daughter's (Athena's owl is the mascot). Her class color for class of 2012 is light blue. She cut out construction paper and glued it on- a little messy, but it was still cute:

That is a very nice idea. 

I don't think that is allowed on our high school graduation mortarboards...at least I don't remember seeing any at our oldest son's graduation four years ago.  But times could have changed, I suppose!
