limner, ffscout, & JocelynDad ~ Are we the Northfield posse?  As I've said elsewhere, I will miss spending time in the Division Street shops, smelling the Malto-Meal, staying at the Archer House, and eating breakfast at the Tavern for $3.95.

I'm probably more excited about her graduation than D is.  Only one more trimester payment, and then hopefully some well-funded prof will take her on in his/her doctoral program.  It PAYS to be a science major.  I've got fingers crossed that she'll be coming home and studying at UW.

Well - the food at St Olaf is too good and inexpensive to pass up, but I do like the Tavern, especially when the Prime Rib is the special.  My D and her friends like the Indian Restaurant for a dinner break.  :)

My D says that Northfield is just the right size for her, although shopping trips to the Mall of America are always welcome. :X

I must admit that I really liked Northfield myself when we visited Carleton last year. My son also was impressed, especially when Firefly's daughter pointed him in the direction of a great used vinyl record store on the main street. You "Northfield posse" members are lucky to have such a great little town to visit your kids in!

Son is back in Redlands. Made the trip in 45 minutes-he had to slow down by UCR because of the heavly rain. I was worried at first that he left before lunch, then husband reminded me he could lunch with the  girlfriend :D  Used the iphone to send his picture to grandma-he looks so Happy.  LAST SEMESTER!

Mine is on the way back now.  It's already too quiet at home.

WestrnMom, I still have a 10-year-old at home (who finally went back to school today), and it's *still* way too quiet here too. Holiday break has reminded us of what we've been missing, sigh.

Yep, fellow pardners, firefly and MaizeBlue, we are the Northfield posse. And, of course, jocelynDad rides in from the west side of town to join us. (Hmm, no cowboy hat emoticon available . . )

I love Northfield. We drove around the area just south of campus with all the beautiful homes. H was saying, "I could just walk into work if I taught here . . ." I think it made S a tad nervous; H and I were practically salivating. I loved the coffee shop, Blue something or other (obviously I could use a little caffeine right now). We've had our reservations for next family weekend for months now (Oct. 08), and the 10-year-old can't wait to visit the Mall of America.

Ooh, ooh, I just realized, tonight's Carolyn's possible star turn on Leno! Either grab your Tivos or your caffeine fixes everybody!

Thanks for the Leno reminder, Limner (by the way, it's Goodbye Blue Monday).  I'm eager to try Uncle Lou's Waffle Shop (which just opened, owned by a Carleton professor) next time I'm in Northfield.

Ooh, a waffle shop!  I'm up for that for my next visit.  D and her friends have done a great deal of studying ;) at Blue Mondays.  D had Northfield Option (approval to live off campus/off board) last year and lived with 2 others in a 2 bedroom apartment over a storefront on Division St.  That's city livin' in Northfield.  Major advantage was that Blue Monday's was right across the street.  She brought home their coffee for holiday gifts.

Tried to see if I could watch Leno on my computer the next day.  Can't seem to load, so I set my iphone to wake me up tonight-just in case.

Was Carolyn on Leno?  I fell asleep just as it came on.

I didn't see her.  Leno was interviewing people asking questions then having the audience guess whether they were Republican or Democrat.

LOL! I'm sort of relieved it wasn't on. One of the questions he asked me was about old boyfriends, and afterwards I had visions of my old boyfriends turning on their sets to watch Leno and saying, "My GAWD look at her now!" :P

To be honest though, both my husband and I were in bed well before the show and only remembered the next morning.
