After holing myself up in the bedroom to keep from *suggesting* anything, I slinked out to check on my D and how she was doing hitting 'submit'. She was quietly reading a high school text book and had her homework spread about her.
"Did you do it?" I asked.
"Yep. All except Dickinson."
"Why not Dickinson?!"
"Mom, it's not due until February 1st."
AAAAHHHHHH................
But, she DID complete SIX applications. Completely done. That's it until April. I can't believe it! It is done! All except Dickinson that is.
Oberlin
Occidental
Smith
Bryn Mawr
Grinnel
Lewis and Clark (EA-in with $)
Keep your fingers crossed for her. I really am hoping she has choices! For those who saw Wellesley on a previous list-it bit the dust in the end ie: this afternoon.
"I don't want to go there."
"Then why are you applying?"
"I'm not."
Any other last minute students out there? What did the final list look like?

outwest, your D sounds just like my S. "It's not due until X" was definitely his mantra, sigh.
Congrats to both you and your D on getting those apps in--except Dickinson, of course.

D is finally done, except for University of Waterloo (I'm not really clear on the deadline there, but with the exchage rate and different financial aid system I'm thinking it will end up being the most expensive option so if it gets done great, if not, oh well.)
Final list of applications: MIT (deferred EA), Brown, Carnegie Mellon, Carleton, Harvey Mudd, UCSC, Juniata, Whitworth (accepted), Waterloo.
D doesn't really have a favorite at this point, but last night she was worrying that she'd only get into Junitata, Whitworth, and UCSC. I think that was more because of pride than not wanting to go to one of them. She's got the stats, but is very insecure about the rest of her application. Oh well, too late now.
And a side note -- Carleton sent the best financial aid instruction I have seen (and I have an older D who went to two different colleges). Clear, readable, step-by-step. Other schools should steal their brochure. The swim coaches at Carleton also write the best personal emails! (Can you tell which one is my favorite?)

D's final list came down to four schools and if she doesn't get into any of them ... which is a distinct possibility ... well ... as she said at dinner last night "I'll just start all over again."
Berklee (EA, notification will be Jan. 31, she finished this one in September)
Occidental (her part done Dec. 28 but we're hoping the office got her GC form whcih wasn't sent till Jan. 7 but the deadline was Jan. 10 for everything there, notification late March)
Miami (Frost) (done Dec. 28, notification mid-March)
University of the Arts in Philly (paperwork all done Jan. 2 but her audition isn't until March 1 ... so much for the luxury of rolling admissions)
