Congrats Entomom! What an incredible slew of colleges to choose from! Glad your daughter is happy with her choice! I've heard wonderful things about Michigan and no debt for grad school is so freeing for her!
My D is 99.9% sure will be accepting her safety school, much to the shock and dismay of her friends, teachers and relatives. She's analyzed it very well and seems satisfied with her selection. I'm giving her till Monday just to be sure.

Congratulations to Entomom's daughter! She has made an outstanding choice, especially considering all of the opportunities being a Freeman Scholar will provide.
Ablestmom, I'm sure you already have, but tell your daughter to follow her heart. Do let us know the final choice so we can celebrate for her as well!

Whoo-hoo, entomom! Congrats to your D! (I'm humming the fight song as I type.)
I think, with the number and quality of choices your D had, that buyer's remorse is unavoidable. I was having buyer's remorse as I was gathering the replies to S's unchosen schools, and it's not even my admissions process. Tell her not to second guess herself, just order the decal and hoodie.

Entomom:
Your D selected the school and setting that felt right for her. That is the sole criteria that is important, she is to be saluted for following her mind and instincts.
That your choices were from some of the most selective universities in our land is to her credit, but making her decision as she did is IMO even more desiring of praise.

Entomom, congratulations! She needs to go where she feels the most comfortable. That is what finding a fit is all about. I love reading her acceptances again and seeing that she was able to sort through all of it and find the best school for her.
ABlestMom, I'm sure you will be so relieved when that choice is made. I love hearing that a safety is also a first choice, because that is the point of safeties--choosing a school that they know they can get into and will be delighted to attend.

| Congratulations on everyone's choices! Entomom, your D's decision must have been so hard with so many wonderful choices. I've heard great things about Michigan, and I suspect your D will be the kind to make the most of every opportunity!

Entomom, tell your D welcome to the Big 10!
As a Badger, let me say that U of M is one of the finest schools in the country with loads of opportunities for her. Congratulations on a decision based on heart and head and not hype.

Thank you all so much, I've appreciated everyone's help and support. Guess it's payback time, I hope I've learned some things and can contribute to the Class of '08.
It's exciting to move on to the next phase of thinking about classes to take, roomates, etc. Little sister is particularly happy because Ann Arbor has a H & M store, so she plans to visit frequently!

I wouldn't have guessed this one. Ultimately, the potential to meet requirements for the "guaranteed transfer" option to Cornell (as a sophomore) influenced the decision, along with the UB Honors Program and the price tag of a state school. Hard to know how to think about this Cornell option. My son's excited, but it creates another year of uncertainly, another transition, etc. Transfer or not, however, I'm confident that he's the sort of person who will settle in and make his place wherever he is.
