I believe that this particular tiger is in New Jersey...Princeton, New Jersey, to be precise!

Outwest:
The oldest building on Princeton's campus is 'Old Nassau'. On good weather days, the graduation ceremony is held in front of 'old Nassau'.
So many of the students, alums and faculty refer to Princeton University as 'Old Nassau".
The colors are Orange and Black and the mascot is the Tiger.

And here's some history on the Tiger (I googled it too):
http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/archives/2005/09/22/sports/13150.shtml
During the 18th and much of the 19th centuries, students at the College of New Jersey lacked most team sports and thus the necessity to embrace the concept of a school mascot.
Still, the sartorially astute student of that era had his own version of the popped-collar shirt. Probably in tribute to William III — the Prince of Orange (of the House of Nassau) — students sported orange ribbons on which they wrote their class numerals. Since Sharpies only came in black in those days, the student body was festooned in orange and black. This color proclivity expanded to the jerseys, stockings and caps worn by students, particularly the more athletic ones.
Given the rampant animality present on campus and the fact that orange and black were designated as Princeton's official colors in 1896, students increasingly identified with the Tiger.

OH!!...Now it makes sense! Occidental has a tiger for a mascot and that is the only one I could think of. Occidental was started by two Princeton alumni who wanted to honor their college by making the mascot the same. LOL I had forgotton that little spiel from the tour of Occidental we took.
Congratulations, Alumom! I assume you noticed that Bumpyroad's D chose it, too.

Thanks, outwest. Yes, it was hard, harder than he and we ever imagined it would be. Never underestimate the allure of Harvard. But after compiling and analyzing long lists of criteria and conducting numerous gut checks, he stuck with the school that was his first choice from the beginning. It was really, really hard to make that decision, though. Yes, wine. Now.

LOL That's what I was thinking, Cardinal. They are going to be really far from each other. Both schools are awesome, but very different. They can compare notes!

| Wendy - Congratulations on your son's choosing Yale! As the parent of a current H sophomore (who is blissfully happy there), I am always a wee bit disappointed when someone chooses Y, but only because it's H's loss. May your son have four blissfully happy years at Yale!

Thanks, all.
NCeph -- it was a hard decision. When you have extraordinary choices, you have to give up something extraordinary (and of course, you get something extraordinary). He didn't love Harvard when we visited during his junior year. So when he went to H's admitted students program last week and did in fact love it, he was taken by surprise. The fact is, Y and H have a great deal in common -- many more similarities than differences. But it's certain a kid can only choose one!
