Hi all, Been awhile since I've been here, but I still get notifications for this thread. It is near and dear. And yes, D loves her landing spot, and it's hard to imagine that a year ago it was all so tense and upsetting!
I wanted to respond about this poor girl's situation that Westrnmom wrote about. First of all, 18 auditions is way too many. It would be terribly difficult to give the focus or attention necessary to ace that many auditions. I am making the assumption it is for music. If it is for dance, or theater or something else, my thoughts may be off base.
First, we will hope for the best from the remaining 3 schools. If she has any waitlists at all, start there and show the love. If she had contacts from any of the schools that were encouraging, email or phone them, and ask for advice.
Next, consider looking at lower tier music schools that might have rolling admissions, or late admissions. There may also be a few schools that will take new students mid-year. (I'll bet Carolyn has some ideas!)
A gap year is not at all unusual for performance majors. She can create a plan that involves intensive work with a private teacher. The private teacher can help her create a more realistic target number of schools, with a realistic safety, and spend the year working up audition material.
I can't imagine what this poor girl must be feeling right now. I hope she has a great support system. A performer has to know how to take rejection, but this seems a bit excessive for someone just starting out!

Binx, it is lovely to "see" you again. I'm glad to hear that all is well for your daughter.
