| This is jumping the gun, since no data are in yet (but, as Carolyn said, it's been very quiet around here). So, if anyone sees any articles or data, please post them. I'm curious as to what the increase in apps for the most selective colleges has done to the actual yield--did the adcoms get it right?

| Well, I haven't seen any articles yet, but I did hear from d's school about 2 weeks ago that they accepted about 15% fewer kids this year due to a ridiculously high yield last year, and they're still getting more "yeses" than they expected, and won't even come close to touching the waitlist. This class may also be ridiculously large.

The NACAC space availability survey goes online this week. Every year, at least 200-300 colleges that didn't get the yield they expected are listed as still looking for students. Every year there are some surprises on the list.
It is my opinion that waitlists frequently hide the true yield levels of some colleges. Last edited on Mon Apr 30th, 2007 06:03 pm by CarolynLawrence

Carolyn,
I look at that NACAC list each year and, when those surprises show up, the cynic in me just knows that the surprise school only has one opening - for that missing tuba player for the marching band.

| Anecdotal and second hand, but a client's son enrolled at Cal Poly (SLO) and apparently their yield was higher than anticipated. For the kids who didn't get off the schneid the housing options are tight.

I haven't seen any one article that sums this up, but here are some interesting links.
NACAC Space Availability:
http://www.nacacnet.org/MemberPortal/forstudents/2007SpaceAvailabilityResults.com
Middlebury had a record 47% yield:
http://media.http://www.middleburycampus.com/media/storage/paper446/news/2007/05/09/News/Admitted.Students.Yield.At.Record.Rate-2897601.shtml
Dartmouth has higher yield:

On the other board, there were reports of schools not taking anyone off their wait lists (Tufts, UChicago), but I couldn't confirm those with any news articles.
