Hi,
My son is a graduating Senior at University of Redlands. He asked me to please let everyone know that Redlands has decided to have a dorm floor for students interested in music next year. I believe it is open to everyone, not just music students. I haven't read that anyone on this board is going to Redlands next year, but I promised him I would do my best to promote the floor. He is very excited about this and honestly, I cannot think of the last time he asked me to do something for him. Of course, that does not mean I haven't chosen to do something without being asked --like baking cookies for senior recital next week.

One of my Ds very best friends just had a scholarship audition for Univ. of Redlands last weekend. She is a vocalist (an outstanding vocalist). After her audition one of the professors came up and gave her a big hug (!!) grabbed her by the shoulders and said, "You were phenomenal. I am recommending you for a scholarship." Her Mom is thrilled by that prospect. She thinks she wants to go there, but is waiting for Chapman's admission decision. She initially applied ED to Whitman, but was denied. After receiving several acceptances she is now down to two choices- Redlands or Chapman, but she and her Mom really liked Redlands!
I will pass on the information to her. You can tell your son that someone interested did reply.

Thank you.
If she has any questions at all, feel free to ask here or PM. My son and his friends all love their school and will be very honest about any questions. They don't have a problem telling anyone if they like or dislike anything. I know a soph vocalist very well for several yrs, her parents orignally wanted Pepperdine, I don't know if she even applied there. The Dean of the Music school is doing a great job at promoting the vocal program. They did Norma his first year, this year is La Traviata. Dean is is a fantastic trombone player. The President's Honor Recital was Sunday and it was a wonderful showcase of the talent. all five students were amazing. I was partial to the trumpet/fluglehorn player The faculty are so very caring, it was great to see them talking with and supporting their students, they are also very kind to parents.

Lynda, thanks for sharing this. I have two juniors who are interested in music, and I just mentioned Redlands to them this week. I'll be sure to give them this update.
It seems impossible that your son is graduating!
